Defensive breakdowns galore

Flyers lose 5-3. Series tied 1-1.

Ryan Parent replaced Lukas Krajicek in the lineup for tonight’s game two versus the Devils, but the results were less than satisfactory. Parent had several failed clears during the game, and was taken to task by Zubrus late in the third…resulting in the game winner.

Matt Carle showed his true colors once again tonight. Several horrible turnovers and lackadaisical plays that led to many Devils scoring opportunities.

Coburn’s play was once again stupid at best.

At some point these young guys have to stop relying on Pronger and Timonen to bail them out. They need to set up and get things done on the defensive end.

Also Hartnell, Carter and Briere were nearly invisible again tonight. They created a few scoring oppurutines, but found numerous ways to squander them.

Boucher played fantastic tonight – the Devils could have easily scored seven if anyone else was in net, yes, the defense was that bad.

On a positive note, Pronger, Timonen, Giroux, JVR and Richards all had very strong games, but five strong efforts plus a hot goalie doesn’t lead to Playoff wins. You need a full team all making positive plays, and thats not something the Flyers had tonight.

Coburn is killing me. And while Carle looked good at times he killed us as well. Hartnell and Carter need to figure something out and fast, if we cannot get goals from those guys that we are up a creek.

    Nice post Kibbles
