Andy Reid on 610

Andy Reid was on 610-WIP this afternoon and he talked the Eagles pursuit of Anquan Boldin, Chad Johnson and Braylon Edwards.

Reid said he wasn’t sure how bad the Bengals wanted trade Chad Johnson, or how bad the Cards wanted to trade Anquan Boldin and how bad the Browns wanted to trade Braylon Edwards.

He said these teams seemed to be going through the motions rather than really wanted to make a deal.

According to Andy, the teams were trying to get more than what the Lions got from the Cowboys for Roy Williams. Of course the Lions got a first round pick, a third round pick and a sixth round pick for him.

You can’t give up more than that for these wide receivers.

Reid said the Cardinals wanted even more for Boldin. Big Red said the Cardinals were asking for a ridiculous amount of compensation for the star wide receiver.

He said the Cards were showing them how Boldin’s stats compared with those of Jerry Rice at the same time in his career. Rice of course is the best wide receiver in the history of the NFL. -GCobb.com

Are you kidding me?  Really?  Did the Cardinals really honestly think that Boldin was equal to Jerry Rice.  Wow let me get this off my chest by saying I was one of the ones that has been rooting for Boldin day one.  Just ask anyone I talk too they all knew how BADLY I wanted Boldin in Midnight green.  But really…. Jerry Rice?  That’s jaw dropping.  Jerry Jones thanks for setting the standard of overpaying for a sub par Wide Out.  A lot of people out there called it from the beginning in saying this.  “Boldin is under contract he does not have to be traded or go anywhere, he is property of the Cardinals and he will stay that way.”  Meanwhile I really felt we were going to get him, regardless I feel we got some darn good weapons.  But really a First, Third, and Fifth is way over what anyone should ever pay for Chad Johnson and Braylon Edwards.  Anquan MAYBE, but that contract that came with it was a bit much.  In the end we got Jeremy Maclin who we will have for years to come.  Who knows, maybe he will be a bust, but again who knows maybe he will be the next TRUE Jerry Rice, unlike what the Cards think Boldin is.  That’s too funny…
