First Round Scenario

I know everyone is rifling through web page after web page of the endless possibilities of what the Eagles will do in the 1st round. Thankfully we have limited it down with the signing of Jason Peters. But now the question is “What are the Eagles going to do?”

What do the fans feel we should do?

1. Knowshon Moreno / Donald Brown
2. Brandon Pettigrew
3. Trade (Anquan Boldin / Braylon Edwards)

I have a gut feeling that we will either do 2 things:

1. Alex Mack (Center)
2. Trade Out (Address more needs with more picks)

Unfortunately I feel that the later is probably what we are going to do in reality. I believe the Eagles feel that our WR core is fine and adequate. I am waiting any day now for them to make the announcement that with our upgrades at OL our WR core will be better this year due to McNabb having more protection and more time to throw.

My reasoning behind these 2 later choices is because Jamaal Jackson is not the best center in the league. Matter of fact he is ranked 19th / 30 when it comes to centers around the league. In 2008 he gave up 2.25 sacks out of 16 games. There are rumors that the satisfaction level with Jackson is not all there. With this in mind, Alex Mack is considered one of the top rated centers in the draft. Walterfootball is quoted as saying “Mack, arguably the best center prospect in 25 years”. This is amazing when you think about it. Now granted OL and especially Center are not glamorous picks, but a solid offensive line is where it starts. And Center is in the middle of this core.

Now of course there is the possibility that the Eagles feel we have not addressed enough needs and trade out for more picks. Picks in higher rounds to address RB, TE, LB & DE. This becomes extremely relevant when you add that Sheldon Brown wants a new contract. We all know how the Eagles feel about disgruntle players.
