Post game quick hits

Tonight’s huge 4-1 win over the Devils came with a price.

Gagne blocked a shot during the second period, and never returned. He’s  scheduled for x-rays tomorrow morning to see the extent of the damage; not much information other than that.

Carter is also a bit nicked up after taking a Pronger slapshot off his body on the final goal. Carter looked strong tonight though.

Carcillo scored again, and another funny celebration ensued.

The refs questionable calls continued tonight. A lot of ticky tack calls that have no right being whistled down in a Playoff game.

Hartnell was invisible, no big surprise there.

Kovalchuk looked lethal every time he hit the ice. Very impressive performance from him, but it could be too little, too late.

Boucher made some big stops tonight and continues to looks strong.

Its looking more and more like the Flyers could make some noise in this tournament.

Regardless when Kovalchuk is on the Ice its not Devil hockey…its like a weird mix of 4 chickens and 1 hen.

Hartnell needs to snap out of this funk that has been going on all seasons. And lets assume for a moment that we do win one of the next 3 games and move on in the series to get a team like the Pens… I think that would be a good series for Hartnell to wake up 🙂

Make some noise yes, I do agree, but we all knew in a way that the Flyers were the 1 team that could do this to the Devils. When we had a shot for the playoffs in the end I think we were all crossing our fingers for the Devils.

If we win this series next series will be the true test…to beat Wash / Pitt (something we have not done well this year) will be the “eye opener” that I would need

Kovalchuks’ presence with the Devils is odd. I mean they brought him in to do exactly what hes doing, run the offense, but its still a bit goofy watching everyone else just standing around and observing him doing his own thing.

But lets not forget Kovalchuk is a world class player, and hes one of the few that can literally create goals by himself. If he gets rolling the Flyers could have some competition, but not enough to change the course of the series.

Also I agree a lot of people assumed the Flyers could beat the Devils, but this has been a royal smack down. In the games the Flyers have had final line change, they’re hardly even considered games. The OT game went to OT only because of Brodeur, and last nights route saw the Flyers completely control play in the 2nd and 3rd.

Plus I think everyone can agree this is a team built for the Playoffs; they’ve been through hell and back this season, they have two top tier Dmen, some of the best special teams units in the Playoffs, and Richards has been everything a Captain needs to be. At this point I’d say the Flyers could run with anyone in the East.
