Pros: = Maclin has proven himself as a tough player by coming back from the knee injury he suffered prior to his freshman season. He plays physical and much stronger than his size would lead on. Maclin’s athleticism and speed are his biggest assets with him being able to score from just about anywhere on the field.
Cons: = There is not much weakness to his game other than questions about his knee and his burst out of his cuts when running routes. He needs to work on being a precise route runner and exploding out of the breaks.
Summary: = Maclin is an excellent athlete at the WR position who I think can truly be a No. 2 receiver almost immediately. His speed, hands, and physical style gives him a chance to make an impact right away. Some might say his numbers are inflated because of Missouri’s offense and they may be right, but to me with Maclin I don’t think it matters what system he is in he can make plays. He is an excellent returner and will make an impact on a team right away returning kicks. Maclin needs to get to training camp looking to improve on some of the basics of being a WR, route running for one, and if he does he could make a real impact next season.
