Fred from PSD’s Philadelphia Phillies forums<\/a> wrote a little something for Harry Kalas, it was such a nice poem that I thought I would share it with everyone else. Thanks Fred for fist posting this in PSD’s Phillies forums but then above that allowing me to post this on here as well. Great stuff as always man!<\/p>\n

Harry the K<\/p>\n

It all started back in \u201871
\nWhen Harry became one of Philly\u2019s great sons.
\nVeteran\u2019s stadium had to be blessed
\nHarry was there to make sure of no mess.<\/p>\n

They paired him with many, he made them look great
\nBut one was his favorite, his friend and his mate.
\nWhitey stood by him, until his time came
\nThat day\u2019s final score matched his number that game.<\/p>\n

The players were many that Harry had seen.
\nLefty and Bull when I was a teen
\nBowa, Tug and Rose, the team was close-knit
\nHarry called the 500th for \u201cMichael Jack Schmidt\u201d <\/p>\n

He coined lots of phrases, some old and some new
\n\u201cOutta Here\u201d, \u201cLong Drive\u201d to name just a few.
\nThe \u201993 Phillies were a favorite, no doubt.
\nWith Dutch and the Krukker, having fun in the dugout.<\/p>\n

The 2008 team was Harry\u2019s last chance,
\nFor the Phillies to get to the game\u2019s biggest dance.
\nThe hero\u2019s were many, it happened so fast
\nThe Fans came in droves, their numbers were vast.<\/p>\n

We took out the Mets late in the year.
\nThe Phillies faithful were nothing but cheers.
\nNext came CC and his huge left hand
\nShane took him deep, it was extremely grand.<\/p>\n

The Dodgers stepped up, only Manny in the way
\nStairs homerun and Cole kept them at bay.
\nThe Rays were the only team left to take down.
\nIt\u2019s a small wonder the team didn\u2019t drown.<\/p>\n

There was Chase and Ryno, Jayson and Pat
\nThey kept the runs coming with their timely at bats
\nThe pitchers proved why the Phillies did win.
\nPitching \u201cLights Out\u201d finally, the party to begin.<\/p>\n

\u201cSwing and a miss, struck him out\u201d
\nThe Phils had just won, Harry would shout.
\nNo one left standing, the Phillies were champs
\nHarry the K\u2019s career had been stamped.<\/p>\n

The City of Philly has lost a great man,
\nI count myself lucky to be amongst your fans.
\nYou were classy and perfect until the very end.
\nGod speed to you Harry, we\u2019ll miss you dear friend.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
