The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have signed 6\u20190\u201d, 215-pound defenseman Marc-Andre Bourdon to an entry-level National Hockey League contract, according to club General Manager Paul Holmgren. Per club policy, financial terms were not disclosed.<\/p>\n
\u201cMarc-Andre turns pro after an outstanding 2008-09 season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he was honored for his play during the regular season and in the playoffs,\u201d said Holmgren. \u201cWe believe Marc-Andre has tremendous potential to develop into a solid defenseman at the next level.”<\/p>\n
\u201cI am very happy about it. I think I had a good year last year and a good year the year the Flyers drafted me,\u201d said Bourdon. \u201cI was hoping to sign as soon as possible and they signed me right when they could. I signed a good deal and now it is my turn to show them what I can do. I think I have a very good shot and good vision of the play when I have the puck in the offensive zone.\u201d<\/p>\n
