The Friday debridement of running back Brian Westbrook\u2019s ankle has been characterized by agent Todd France as a \u201cminor procedure.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Per Bob Brookover of the <\/em>Philadelphia Inquirer<\/em>, it\u2019s anything but.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m just concerned that it is being underplayed<\/a>,\u201d an unnamed source close to the situation told Brookover.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u2019s a lot more than a little spur and it\u2019s much more than the knee arthroscopy he had [in February].\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Still, a team source told Brookover that it\u2019s not a \u201cmajor procedure.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The deeper concern should be, in our view, that the needle on Westbrook\u2019s football gas tank is getting dangerously close to \u201cE\u201d.\u00a0 It\u2019s one of the basic realities of playing running back in the NFL, where the fame and the glory comes with less money than players at most other positions and a shortened career.<\/em><\/p>\n

The third-round pick in the 2002 draft will be 30 when the next NFL season starts, and it would be wise for the Eagles to begin reducing their expectations when it comes to Westbrook\u2019s contributions, both in the short-term and down the road. -profootballtalk.com<\/em><\/p>\n

Typically I would chime in here and say don’t worry about this it’s nothing but maybe it is something.\u00a0 I had clean up surgery like this 2 times before another doctor got in there and said your ankle is a lot worse then what we expected.\u00a0 And was he ever right.\u00a0 It went from a partial tear with my other doctor, who operated on me 2 times for minor scar tissue removal and clean up.\u00a0 To blown out for reconstruction surgery.\u00a0 And how that sucked I was down and out for a good 6 months, and I could not run normal for a good year.\u00a0 And I was a fast healer said my doctor.\u00a0 Hopefully its not all that serious.<\/p>\n

On another note due to this I hope the Eagles don’t go out there and sign some washed up old player like Duece.\u00a0 Who knows maybe they will and maybe I will eat my own words.\u00a0 We shall see.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
