{"id":713,"date":"2009-06-02T09:05:26","date_gmt":"2009-06-02T14:05:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.homeboyznetwork.com\/?p=713"},"modified":"2009-06-02T09:05:26","modified_gmt":"2009-06-02T14:05:26","slug":"eagles-add-dallas-d-c-brian-stewart","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.homeboyznetwork.com\/?p=713","title":{"rendered":"Eagles add Dallas D-C Brian Stewart"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The Eagles reportedly will\u00a0add\u00a0to their coaching staff in what could be another\u00a0sign that Jim Johnson will not be able to return as defensive coordinator.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported Saturday that former Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Brian Stewart will join the Eagles staff, with an announcement possible this coming\u00a0week.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Stewart was fired by the Cowboys in the staff purge that followed the Eagles&#8217; victory over the Cowboys in the final game of the regular season.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Sean McDermott, who was the Eagles secondary coach, has been handling the defensive coordinator chores while Johnson battles cancer. Johnson was not on the field for the Eagles&#8217; last round of workouts. Stewart has experience coaching defensive backs. He and Eagles coach Andy Reid also worked together years ago at Northern Arizona. Aside from any previous connection, Stewart would have recent knowledge of Cowboys personnel and defensive schemes. -Star-Telegram.com<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Now some of you may sit there and say WHY&#8230;why this guy when we have Jim Johnson?\u00a0 Well as you can see were not too sure when and or if Jim can come back, and if we want our special teams to be good then we need McDermott to concentrate on just that alone and not both.\u00a0 Then you might also say, but why this guy 44-6 ugh HELLO?!?\u00a0 Well you also forget that 2 years ago the Cowboys went 13-3 and had one of the if not THE BEST defense in the NFC.\u00a0 Who do you think ran that ship?\u00a0 And for more added of a bonus this guy was with Andy in the early days pre-NFL days.\u00a0 To be reunited again has got to be a great win win situation for the Eagles.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know about you guys but we got a STEAL here<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Eagles reportedly will\u00a0add\u00a0to their coaching staff in what could be another\u00a0sign that Jim Johnson will not be able to return as defensive coordinator.
