Chan Ho Park<\/a> was parked in the bullpen Tuesday — replaced in the Phillies<\/a> rotation by J.A. Happ<\/a>, according to a report on Philly.com<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Phils had to do something to combat the worst starting-pitching ERA in baseball<\/a>. So, Happ and Park swapping spots on the Phillies’ staff didn’t come as a huge surprise.<\/em><\/p>\n

Happ, a 26-year-old lefty, was 2-0 in 12 games out of the pen — posting a 2.49 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 21.2 innings pitched<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

Park wasn’t so successful so far. The 35-year-old righty posted a 1-1 record in eight games (seven starts) — posting a 7.08 ERA with 21 K’s in 34.1 innings<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

The fact that Park was a successful relief pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers last season could have played into the decision. The Phillies can’t rely on the same luxury with their other struggling starters (Jamie Moyer<\/a> and Joe Blanton<\/a>).<\/em><\/p>\n

The move means that Happ should make his first start of the season when the Phillies take on the Yankees in New York on Saturday. -nbc philly<\/em><\/p>\n

I think a lot can agree when they say its about time.\u00a0 While me personally I liked Chan Ho Park and I thought he was finally starting to come around at the same time I guess you have to try anything to stir things up a bit.\u00a0 Happ deserves the shot to get in the rotation.\u00a0 While I heard rumors prior the them keeping Chan Ho at #5 and actually adding a #6 pitcher into the rotation, go figure.\u00a0 Yeah I know that was raised an eyebrow and made me scratch my head too sayin…its not possible.\u00a0 But regardless of all those rumors indeed Park will be back on the bullpen.\u00a0 Which doesn’t bother me at all because as this says above my entry here Chan Ho did a FABALOUS job for the Dodgers last season.\u00a0 Happ I hope you do well and shine buddy here’s your chance.\u00a0 Maybe your that spark that our pitching staff needs?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
