Stefanski said earlier this week that having a history with a prospective candidate was not a prerequisite for the job, but Jordan and Stefanski do have a history; Stefanski was an executive and Jordan an assistant coach with the New Jersey Nets during two runs to the NBA Finals.<\/p>\n

“Ed was Rod Thorn’s righthand man, and together they orchestrated the success we had,” Jordan said. “We had, for those 2 years, a great ride.”<\/p>\n

That ride, in fact, helped Jordan get an interview for the Sixers job that eventually went to Randy Ayers in 2003. This time, Jordan said he likes “how they play, how the young players are developing.”<\/p>\n
